A blessed Ascension Day to you

Today we celebrate Ascension Day, the day Christ ascended bodily to heaven.

“…he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”” (Acts 1:9-11 NIV)

The Ascension of Jesus is meaningful for us as Christians because it sets the pattern for His second coming and was the end of His earthly ministry. Jesus had accomplished all His Father sent Him to do. He was returning to His heavenly glory, and given honour and the name above all names, His Father was well pleased with Him. Christ went to prepare a place for you and for me, and to begin His new work as the mediator of the new covenant. Remember, He is the head of the Church, He is higher than all the heavens, and He is the One Who fills the entire universe.

“In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.” (John 16:16)

On this Ascension Day be blessed as you take time to remember and celebrate Jesus.
