The Corona uncertainty dance we do

There is much sadness, uncertainty, and heaviness in the air as the world faces the COVID-19 virus. Where do we find hope for a positive outcome and a brighter looking future?

Take a few moments to look at the road to Emmaus account as the two Jesus followers were walking with deep sadness and heaviness in their heart. Jesus stops them and asks them, “What are you discussing so intently as you walk along?” They stopped short, sadness written across their faces.” Luke 24:17 NLT

Are we a little like that? All we talk about, discuss and focus on is COVID-19 and the effects it is having? Our global society has ground to a halt. Thousands have died; millions are sick. Economies have ground to a halt. And we helpless and in lockdown. We have sadness written across our faces.

In the account on the road with Jesus we find the answer on how we can find hope, peace and purpose; “Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.” Luke 24:27 NLT

And we know as the account goes after Jesus unpacks scripture to them, He reveals Himself to them over a meal as they break bread together.

Remember the Jesus followers response at the end of the account? “They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:32 NIV

Friends, perhaps there is a lesson to be learned for us here today. Are you are feeling downcast, heavy hearted, anxious and fearful about the future? So, the reality is that you have sadness written across your face? There is a solution.

As you are journeying through this time, stop talking about and focusing all your attention on the COVID-19 events of these days. Take time as a Jesus follower, to read scripture, discuss it with one another, pray and spend time with Jesus.

I pray as you do this, your hearts would burn with love, hope, joy, purpose, kindness, peace and so much more.

Warm love to you in Christ Jesus our Lord.
